Post Swim Makes Its Dallas TV Debut on Good Morning Texas — And We're Still Pinching Ourselves
We went live on Dallas morning TV, talked breast cancer awareness, spotlighted the women who are so often left out of the swimwear conversation, and had the absolute best time doing it. Here's the full story.
When we gifted Mariel Ruiz — the beloved weather anchor for Good Morning Texas — one of our pieces, we honestly just hoped she'd love it. What we didn't expect was a call from her producers asking if we'd come on the show for a live morning segment.
That call changed everything.
From an Instagram Post to Live Television
Mariel's producers spotted her Instagram post featuring her POST SWIM piece and reached out directly. That's the power of community — and the power of a product that resonates. Within days, we were planning a live segment on one of Dallas's most-watched morning programs.
For those of you who've been following our journey, you know that POST SWIM was born out of necessity. As a Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) survivor, I (Lauren!) couldn't find swimwear that worked for my body after treatment — pieces that were stylish, functional, and made me feel like me again. So we built it ourselves.
That mission was front and center on Good Morning Texas.
The Segment: Style, Survival, and Showing Up
I wore our Lauren One Piece in Brave Black under my suit for the segment — a small but intentional nod to the piece that makes me feel my best and a reminder that POST SWIM is always with me, even when I'm dressed for TV.
Chris (my husband and co-founder) came along and captured every moment on video. Having him there made it all feel full circle — he's been by my side through the diagnosis, the treatments, and every late night building this brand. Seeing him behind the camera while I talked about why POST SWIM exists was one of those moments I'll never forget.
And then there was Hanah.
A fellow TNBC survivor, Hanah was kind enough to model for the segment — wearing one of our new suits from our Thrive Collection, which officially launches on May 27th. Watching her walk out in that suit, glowing and strong, was everything this brand is about.
Spotlighting the Kim Top: Designed for Every Body
One of the highlights of the segment was the opportunity to talk about the Kim Top — and why it matters so much.
The Kim Top was designed specifically with these women in mind:
- Flat women post-mastectomy who want coverage and confidence without padding they didn't ask for
- Women who use a prosthetic and need a swim top that accommodates without compromising on style
- Any woman seeking additional coverage — whether for medical, personal, or comfort reasons
In a swimwear industry that has historically ignored or tokenized these bodies, the Kim Top is our answer: you deserve beautiful, intentional swimwear that was made for you. Not an afterthought. Not a medical garment dressed up as fashion. A real, gorgeous swim top that fits your life.
The Conversation We Need to Keep Having
The segment gave us the platform to speak openly about two things that are deeply personal to us:
1. The Gap in Stylish Options for the Breast Cancer Community
There are over 4 million breast cancer survivors in the United States alone. And yet, until very recently, the options for post-surgery swimwear were clinical at best and demoralizing at worst. Women who had already been through so much were handed beige, boxy, medicalized alternatives while the rest of the world got to wear vibrant, fashionable swimwear.
POST SWIM exists to close that gap — completely and unapologetically. Every piece we design is rooted in the belief that surviving should come with joy, including at the pool, the beach, and everywhere in between.
2. Early Detection and Self-Advocacy
We also used our time to talk about something that could genuinely save lives: the importance of early detection and advocating for yourself with your medical team.
My own diagnosis came after I pushed for answers. I knew something wasn't right, and I kept asking until someone listened. That experience shaped not only how I think about healthcare but how we talk about it as a brand.
If there's one thing we want every woman watching that segment to take away, it's this: know your body, trust your instincts, and don't stop asking questions.
Resources we recommend:
- Talk to your doctor about your personal screening schedule
- Know your family history and share it with your care team
- Perform regular self-exams and report any changes immediately
- Seek a second opinion — always
The Thrive Collection Launches May 27th
Hanah's appearance in the segment gave Dallas a first look at pieces from our upcoming Thrive Collection, and we cannot wait for you to see it in full.
The Thrive Collection is our most expansive line yet — designed for the woman who has been through it, come out the other side, and is ready to live. Bold silhouettes, thoughtful construction, and the same commitment to inclusivity that defines everything we do.
